Community Play Soundings
Community Soundings are public meetings or workshops that try to identify and then explore contemporary issues. They can take the form of discussions, debates, brainstorming, investigation or a combination of either. Soundings are invariably around local issues, and whilst there may be a secondary motive to find a potent subject for the play that must not be it the primary purpose of the sounding.

The Nore Mutiny Drama Search
These are notes from a ‘drama search’ for the Isle of Sheppey Community Play. Our Artistic Director, Jon Oram carried out this activity with the community play research group in Sheerness. Notes have been added in an attempt to analyse what was happening and portray the prompts for the activities. This session was part of the process that led to Jon writing The Floating Republic.
