A Claque is a group of followers hired to applaud a performance and so influence the audience into their approval of a play. In ancient Greece, Claquers were common in law courts as well as in the theatre. There’s more on their history here.
Today, Claque Theatre is a reinvention of this ancient Claque. By our definition, Claquers are our group of friends and supporters who help keep our projects exciting, inclusive and happening in communities where they can have the most positive impact.
The Claquer is invited to add their voice to the making of the play, participate in the research and debate the play’s themes as it is being created. Just choose which type of Claquer suits you and what you can afford. Each and every donation is essential and you will be kept up-to-date with how it’s contributing to the production of educational community plays that enrich and transform people’s lives.
